General Eduard von Lewinski was and artillery officer and corps-level commander in the Prussian military during the 19th century. Having launched his military career in 1846, he subsequently served as a company commander during the Danish War of 1864 where he was engaged at Düppeler Schanzen (Dybbol) and Alsen. His actions at Dybbol merited him the Pour le Merite honor.

The Austro-Prussian War of 1866 had Lewinski serving on First Army's general staff and taking part in battles at Münchengrätz and Königgrätz. He continued service on First Army's staff as that unit entered the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, and he also functioning as the Senior Quartermaster of Prussia's South Army. During peacetime, General von Lewinski held the position of Chief Inspector of Field Artillery, and additionally commanded VI. Army Corps in Breslau, where he remained until retiring from active duty in 1895. His brother Alfred also served as a Prussian general, and General von Lewinski's biological son was the future Wehrmacht Field Marshal Erich von Manstein.
