Herzog Wilhelm Friedrich
Phillip von Württemberg
(27.12.1761 - 10.08.1830)
place of birth: Stettin im Remstal, Württemberg
Königreich
Württemberg: Kriegsminister, Generalfeldmarschall
Prince Wilhelm served as Württemberg's Minister of War during the first part
of the 19th century. He was the fourth son of Duke Friedrich II. Eugen of
Württemberg. He initially joined the Danish Army and quickly rose in rank,
achieving the promotion to Generalmajor in 1783 at the age of 22. He also served
as the military governor of Copenhagen from 1801 to 1806. Upon returning to
Stuttgart in 1806, Wilhelm's brother Duke Friedrich II. became Württemberg's
first King - Friedrich I. Wilhelm was thus promoted to field marshal and assumed
the role of Württemberg's first War Minister. Although Friedrich von Phull took
over the War Ministry in 1811, Wilhelm remained War Minister de jure
until 1815.
