Generalmajor Georg von Wagner was briefly functioned as
Saxony's Chief of General Staff in 1905. During the Franco-Prussian War
of 1870-71, von Wagner fought as a Leutnant with Schützen-Regiment Nr. 108.
During peacetime, he worked as personal aide to Royal Saxon Prince Friedrich
August, who was later to become King Friedrich August III. As a Generalmajor in
1905, von Wagner succeeded Felix Barth as Saxon Chief of General Staff, only to
unexpectedly pass away a couple weeks later. Georg von Wagner should not be
confused with his father, who had the same name and military rank.
