General Eduard von Treitschke was the Kingdom of
Saxony's Chief of General Staff from 1849 to 1852. As such, he took part in the
First Schleswig War of 1848-1852, for
which he was awarded the Ritterkreuz (Knight's Cross) of Saxony's
highest military order - the Militär-St-Heinrich-Orden. Eduard's nephew
Heinrich Leo von Treitschke also functioned as Saxon Chief of General Staff from
1889 to 1892. Generalleutnant Eduard Heinrich von Treitschke retired from
active duty in 1866 and died one year later.
