Thuisko von Stieglitz served as Royal Saxon Chief of General
Staff for over twelve years and leading up to the Austro-Prussian War of
1866. During that conflict, von Stieglitz lead a Saxon
infantry division which fought in support of the Austrian monarchy.
Following their defeat to Prussian troops at the Battle of Königgrätz,
General von Stieglitz retired from active duty.
