Maximilian Freiherr Schott von Schottenstein served
Württemberg's Minister of War during the inter-War years. Schott
entered the military in 1858 as a lieutenant in Grenadier
Regiment Nr.123 in Ulm. During the Franco-German War of 1870-71,
Hauptmann Schott worked on the staff of Württemberg's Field Division,
thus seeing action at Wörth, Sedan,
and the siege of Paris. In May of 1892,
Generalleutnant Schott von Schottenstein succeeded Gustav von Steinheil
the War Minister, holding this office until 1901. He additionally
functioned as Württemberg's Minister President from 10 November 1900
through 15 April 1901.
