General von Rauch was a Prussian officer who served during the wars with
Austria and France. General Albert von Rauch
was the son of Prussian Minister of War Gustav from Rauch. He also succeeded his
older brother Waldemar as the chief of Prussia's Landgendarmerie
(national military police force), serving from 1888 to 1897.
