Anton Wilhelm Fürst Radziwill

Fürst Anton Radziwill was a a Prussian general officer who served as a
trusted confidant and adjutant to Kaiser Wilhelm I. Anton was the son of
Prussian III. Armeekorps commander General Wilhelm Fürst von Radziwill. Anton
entered military service in 1852 and was a Hauptmann in Prinz August von
Württemberg's Garde-Korps during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866
(Deutscher Krieg).
Following the conflict, King Wilhelm
I. brought him into service as an aide-de-camp (Flügeladjutant), and Radziwill
would remain within the Prussian King's service for the rest of his days. He
later also took part in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71
(Deutsch-Französischer Krieg) and was decorated with the Iron Cross Second
Class. Fürst Radziwill was elevated in 1885 from General à la suite to
one of Kaiser Wilhelm I.'s Generaladjutanten. He was also from 1871
through 1888 a member of the Prussian House of Lords (Preußisches
Herrenhaus). After Wilhelm's death, Radziwill was carried over to Kaiser
Friedrich III.'s entourage of adjutant generals. On 22 March 1889 he was given
the duty title (Diensttitel) of General der Artillerie.
