General Wilhelm Ritter von Manz served for four years as Bavarian
War Minister in Munich. Ritter von Manz began his military career in 1825 and
worked in Bavaria's War Ministry as a colonel. After commanding 1.
Jäger-Batallon König in Freising, Generalmajor von Manz was selected in
1855 to replace Ludwig Lüder as head of the Bayerisches Kriegsministerium. He
remained in this office for the following four years and then was appointed
Commander of the Munich Garrison (Kommandant der Hauptstadt München).
