Ludwig Ferdinand Prinz von Bayern was
a General der Kavallerie in the Royal Bavarian Military. He was born in
Spain to Prince Adalbert von Griechenland and Infanta Amalia of Spain,
the first grandchild of Bavarian King Ludwig I. The Prince was wed to
Infanta Maria de Paz in 1883. He studied medicine in Heidelberg and
Munich and worked as a consultant surgeon and gynecology, often
treating his patients for free. During the Great War, the Prince
functioned as a station chief at the military hospital in Munich.
