Generalmajor Paul Heintze von Krenski was a Prussian field
artillery officer who briefly served as
General à la suite in Kaiser Wilhelm II.'s military entourage prior to
World War One. Paul enlisted in the Garde-Feldartillerie-Regiment in Berlin and
went into combat during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 (Deutscher
Krieg). He was commissioned as a Sekonde-Lieutenant on 6 August 1866. With
the same regiment, he again saw action in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71
(Deutsch-Französischer Krieg) and was decorated with the Iron Cross, 2nd Class.
Having been promoted to Oberst-Lieutenant, Paul Heintze
was given command of 1. Posensches Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 20 on 18 October
1896, and he was additionally selected as and aide-de-camp to Kaiser
Wilhelm II. In March of 1897, he was transferred to Berlin in order to
take command of his original unit, the 1. Garde-Feldartillerie-Regiment. Two
years later on 13 September 1899, he was selected to head up 1.
Garde-Feldartillerie-Brigade, receiving promotion to Generalmajor the following
January. He served as
General à la suite in the Kaiser's headquarters for approximately one year,
but retired from active duty (zur Disposition) on 18 May 1901.
