Prussian Generalfeldmarschall and Army
Inspector General who commanded troops during the campaigns of 1866 and
1870-71. After those wars, he commanded X. Armee-Korps and was promoted to
Generalfeldmarschall in June 1888. The prince was later elected Regent of
Braunschweig where he ruled from 1885 to 1906. He was laid to rest at Schloß Kamenz
in Lower Silesia.
