Karl Trimborn briefly succeeded Max Wallraf as Imperial Germany's Minister of the Interior as the Great War wound down. During the War, Trimborn had previously served in Germany's civilian administration in Verviers, Belgium. He was additionally charged with overseeing the educational system in Brussels. He was married to the Belgian women's rights activist Jeanne Mali.
