Georg Michaelis
(08.09.1857 - 24.07.1936)
place of birth:  Haynau, Niederschlesien  (Chojnow, Poland)
Deutsches Kaiserreich:  Reichskanzler

Imperial German Chancellor during the Great War (July-Oct 1917), Georg Michaelis had been chosen by General Ludendorff to replace previous Chancelor Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg and form a new government. Michaelis had previously headed the Department for Grain Supply (1915) and was also the Commissioner for Food Supply (1917). Kaiser Wilhelm II had thought of Michaelis, a born commoner, to be too soft and thus completely unqualified to head the Reichskanzleramt. The military eventually withdrew support for Michaelis and he was forced to resign. He later headed the administration of Pomerania.

Georg Michaelis was married to Margarete Schmidt, with whom he had five daughters and two sons. He passed away on 24 July 1936 in Bad Saarow, Mark Brandenburg.
