Royal Prussian general officer Heinrich von Zastrow entered
the military service in 1819 as an infantry lieutenant. He was a
military liaison officer in Turkey from 1839 to 1842, and then headed
up the 11th Infantry Division during the Austro-Prussian War
of 1866, seeing action at Königgrätz. Thereafter, he
succeeded Vogel von Falckenstein as VII. Army Corps commander, leading
his troops into battle during the Franco-Prussian War of
1870-71. General von Zastrow retired from active service in
1872 and passed away in August of 1875 in Berlin-Schöneberg.
