(18.04.1782 - 01.11.1861)
place of birth:  Vellin, Pomerania
Königreich Preußen:  KG,  General der Infanterie

General von Natzmer
served as commanding general of I. Armeekorps in Königsberg from 1832 to 1839. Natzmer's career began in 1795 as a Leibpage (squire) in King Friedrich Wilhelm II.'s court. He then joined Potsdam's 1. Bataillon Garde in 1798 as an officer aspirant. He was later engaged at the Battle of Auerstedt during the War of the Fourth Coalition 1806-1807 (Vierter Koalitionskrieg). He also participated in the German Campaign of 1813-1815 (Befreiungskriege), was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross, and in October 1815 at the age of 33 was promoted to Generalmajor.

Functioning as military attendant to Prince Wilhelm (later Kaiser Wilhelm I.), von Natzmer accompanied the prince from 1817 to 1823 on several European journeys, including Russia, Italy, and Switzerland. In 1827, Generalleutnant von Natzmer received command of 8. Division in Erfurt, likewise serving as Kommandant of the city. In 1832, he replaced Karl August von Krafft as commander of I. Armeekorps headquartered in Königsberg and remained at this posting until November 1839. Suffering from asthma, he left Königsberg for Berlin in order to serve as Generaladjutant to King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. General der Infanterie von Natzmer remained on active duty until May 1848. Although he maintained a long-term relationship with Julie von Brandenburg, King Friedrich Wilhelm II.'s illegitimate daughter, von Natzmer ended up marrying Luise Freiin von Richthofen.
