Friedrich Deppert

General Friedrich Deppert served as a Royal Bavarian artillery officer during the pre-War years. Friedrich was born as the son of the Director of Bavaria's State Railway. From 1902 to 1905, Deppert was the director of the Bavarian Military Academy in Munich and was simultaneously put in charge of Artillery and Engineering School. He was placed on inactive reserve status at the end of 1906 but was reactivated when Germany mobilized for the First World War. 

Generalmajor z.D. Deppert was initially tasked with serving as General Freiherr von und zu der Tann-Rathsamhausen's Chief of Staff at I. Bavarian Army Corps headquarters in Munich. He received command of 5th Esatz Infantry Brigade but was soon thereafter killed in action at Ban de Sapt in France's Vosges Mountain.
