Prince
Friedrich was the last ruler of the Principality of
Waldeck-Pyrmont, located in modern central Hessen. He was viewed in
very favorable terms, with his rule lasting from 1893 to 1918. His
military role included the title of Chef of Infanterie-Regiment Nr.83.
Friedrich's marriage to Princess Bathildis von Schaumburg-Lippe
produced three sons and one daughter. His eldest son Josias, a General
in the Waffen-SS, was convicted of war crimes in the aftermath of World
War Two.
