Alfons Prinz von Bayern was a
General der Kavallerie in the Royal Bavarian Military. He was born to
Prince Adalbert von Griechenland and Infanta Amalia of Spain, and was
thus a grandchild of Bavarian King Ludwig I. Part of his
largely ceremonial career in the military included his duties as Chef
of the Dragoner-Regiment "Freiherr von Manteuffel" (Rheinisches) Nr. 5
in Hofgeismar.
