Prussian officer Gustav Graf von Lambsdorff served during the Great War as both a staff officer and field general. Oberstleutnant Freiherr von der Wenge arrived at X. Armee-Korps headquarters Hannover during the pre-War years to replace Erich von Redern as General Otto von Emmich's chief of staff. He remained in this capacity as hostilities broke out in August 1914. During the conflict, von der Wenge served as Prinz Leopold von Bayern's chief of staff at 9. Armee-Oberkommando headquarters. He later additionally served as commander 30. Infanterie-Division.
