General officer and artillery specialist Johann Streck came out of retirement shortly after mobilization for the Great War in order to take command of the 6th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Division. He was soon thereafter relieved of command by Felix Graf von Bothmer and died a little more than one week later. Streck's son Hans served during the War as General Ludendorff's adjutant.
