Royal Bavarian general and Baron Ignaz von Godin was in command of the 1st Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment as the German Army mobilized in August 1914. Freiherr von Godin later headed up Bavaria's 6th Infantry Division for about one year before being killed in action at Gits, Belgium.
