Bodo von Ditfurth served as an officer in the Prussian Army and
also as Pasha in
Sultan Abdulhamid II's Ottoman military forces. He returned from Turkey in 1909
in order to take command of a Prussian regiment and then a brigade. In the
months leading up to Great War mobilization, General von Ditfurth was awarded
the character rank of Generalleutnant and appointed as Inspector General of the
Landwehr Inspectorate in Cologne. General von Ditfurth was married to Paula
Freiin von Blomberg with whom he had nine children.
