(20.04.1862 - 31.10.1936)
place of birth:  Neiße, Schlesien
Königreich Preußen:  Div-Kdr,  Generalmajor

Prussian General Johannes von Busse was a brigade and division level commander during the Great War. Busse joined the military in 1879 and spent most of the subsequent 20 years in regimental service in the town of Stettin. He war promoted to Oberst in 1912 and was at the helm of Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 89 when Germany mobilized for the War.

As the hostilities began, Oberst von Busse was charged with brigade command, first on the Western Front, and then in 1915 with German forces marching south through Serbia towards the Greek frontier. Busse was then redeployed to Eastern Galicia in order to command Division Wilhelmi during the summer of 1916 Brusilov Offensive. Thereafter, he was transferred back to the Western Front to take command of 111. Infanterie-Division troops who were battling the British near Arras. During the Spring Offensive of 1918, General von Busse's soldiers achieved enough success in punching through British lines of defense that his leadership was recognized with the Pour le Merite medal. Following the Armistice, he continued in command of the infantry division headquartered in Schwerin. Upon his retirement in September 1919, von Busse was promoted to the honorary rank of Generalleutnant.
