Ernst August Ludwig Konrad von Wrisberg
(02.08.1862 - 01.04.1927)
place of birth:  Schwerin

Königreich Preußen:  Allgemeine Kriegs-Departement,  Generalmajor

Generalmajor Ernst von Wrisberg was the director of Imperial Germany's General War Department during the Great War. In the months leading up to mobilization, von Wrisberg headed up the Department's Army Section (A.1). He remained in this role until March 1915, when he was appointed as the provisional director of the General War Department.

Wrisberg was ultimately promoted to Generalmajor and Director of the Department in November 1917, although he was soon transferred to field duty as a brigade commander. Within a month, von Wrisberg was in command of the division, but after sustaining light wounds in action near Ypres was quickly transferred back to Berlin to resume leadership of the General War Department.

Generalmajor von Wrisberg's service and leadership during Germany's Spring Offensive of 1918 resulted in his receiving the coveted Blue Max medal. Following Armistice, he remained at his posting in Berlin until May of 1919. While attending a memorial service for Chancellor von Bismarck in 1927, General Wrisberg suffered a heart attack and passed away soon thereafter. Von Wrisberg's wife Marie was the daughter of Prussian Generall Max von der Planitz.
