(03.07.1854 - 20.12.1946)
place of birth:  Schwendi, Oberschwaben

Freiherr Karl von Süßkind was General von Deimling's Acting Commander at XV. Army Corps headquarters in Strasbourg during the Great War. In the pre-War years, Süßkind served as Prinz Alexander von Preussen's personal adjutant until the prince died in 1896. Süßkind also completed two tours as Prussia's military attache in Paris. He then worked his way through regimental, brigade, and divisional commands, ultimately serving as inspector general of III. Armeekorps Landwehr in Berlin as Germany mobilized for World War One.

As War broke out, Süßkind was brevetted with the rank of General der Infanterie and headed up the 2nd Guards Reserve Infantry Division on the Western Front. Within a few weeks, he was transferred back behind the lines to spend the next four years overseeing General Berthold von Deimling's XV. Army Corps headquarters in Strasbourg.
General Süßkind was married to Prussian General Hugo von Winterfeld's daughter Ilse, with whom he had four children.
