Oskar Fromhold Friedrich Olof von Lindequist
(10.12.1838 - 16.04.1915)
place of birth:  Jülich, Rheinpreußen  (Rhenish Prussia)

Königreich Preußen:  Gen-Insp, KG, Generaladjutant SM,  Generaloberst mdR GFM

Imperial Prussian field marshal of Pomeranian nobility, General von Lindequist was born into the house of Oberst-Lieutenant Karl von Lindequist and his wife Lony von Mayer, who died when young Oskar was 8 years of age. In 1867, Oskar married Anna von Podewils of the Woitzel dynasty. Lindequist began his military service in 1857 and was engaged as a young officer in three Prussian conflicts: the Second Schleswig War of 1864, the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71.

Following the hostilities, he was selected in 1872 to serve as Aide-de-Camp to Kaiser Wilhelm I.  He later commanded the Palace Guard (1879: Schloß-Garde-Kompagnie) and served as commander of 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß in Potsdam. As a Generalmajor in 1887, Lindequist wore four "hats" while continuing military service in the town of Potsdam: commander of 1. Garde-Infanterie-Brigade, provisional commander of 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß, provisional commandant of the Potsdam garrison headquarters, as well as General à la suite to His Majesty Kaiser Wilhelm I.

Upon his promotion to Generalleutnant, von Lindequist began service as Kaiser Wilhelm II's adjutant general, also commanding the 21. Infanterie-Division in Stuttgart. Remaining in that city, he was promoted to General der Infanterie in order to head up Württemberg's XIII. Armee-Korps and later additionally commanded XVIII. Armee-Korps in Frankfurt. In 1902, Lindequist was decorated with Prussia's highest order of chivalry, the Schwarzer Adler-Orden (Order of the Black Eagle). As Inspector General of the III. Armee-Inspektion (Army Inspectorate) in Hannover, von Lindequist received his promotion to Generaloberst in 1906, and five years hence became Generaloberst with the rank of Generalfeldmarschall.

Although Lindequist retired from active duty in 1907, he remained in uniform as Adjutant General to Kaiser Wilhelm II. and thus continued to be listed in Prussia's Seniority Lists. From 1910 through 1914, Generaloberst von Lindequist functioned as the director on the Kyffh
äuser-Bund, Germany's Military Veterans Society. Additionally, from 1911 until his death in 1915, he served as a member in the Preußisches Herrenhaus, the Prussian House of Lords.
He was 75 years old when the Great War broke out in August 1914 and so did not receive any military commands.
