Prussian Generalleutnant Eduard von Hoffmeister was a division-level commander during the Great War. Having retired from active military duty in 1906 at the brevetted rank of Generalleutnant, Hoffmeister was recalled as Germany mobilized. He was initially in command of a Landwehr brigade, and then toward the end of the War was charged with heading up the 23rd Landwehr Division. Following the Armistice in November 1918, General von Hoffmeister was tasked with demobilization duties for Sheffer-Boyadel's Generalkommando zbV Nr 67 (previously known as XVII. Reserve-Korps.)
