(26.06.1869 - 15.12.1931)
place of birth:
 München, Oberbayern  (Munich, Bavaria)
Königreich Bayern:  AOK-Stabschef,  Oberst

Royal Bavarian staff officer Hans von Hemmer was born in Munich to Colonel Anton Hemmer and his spouse Ida née Weißmann. After attending Gymnasium in Regensburg, Hans entered military service in August 1888 as an officer's candidate.

The Great War's outbreak saw Hemmer serving on the general staff of Oskar von Xylander's I. Bavarian Army Corps. By the end of 1914, Hemmer was promoted to serve as Bavarian corps commander Felix Graf von Bothmer's Chief of Staff. He remained as Bothmer's Chief of Staff when the Count received command of the "South Army" in mid-1915, and later remained in that capacity when Bothmer commanded Germany's 19th Field Army.

For his noteworthy actions and leadership in battle, Hemmer was awarded the Ritterkreuz (Knight's Cross) of Bavaria's highest military order - the Militär-Max-Joseph-Orden. He was officially presented with the decoration on 08.11.1915 and was enrolled into Bavarian nobility. He later received the Kommandeur class of the MMJO order.  After the War, Ritter von Hemmer served in the Reichswehr with the rank of major general. He died of a heart attack on 15 December 1931 and is buried in Munich.
