 Imperial German cavalry officer Hermann Brecht served as Inspector General of the First Cavalry Inspectorate during the pre-Great War years. Brecht was given command of the 1st Mobile Cavalry Division during the initial two years of the War, eventually replacing Otto von Garnier as commander of 6th Cavalry Corps (HKK 6) until late 1917. His corps was reorganized into Generalkommando zbV Nr. 59 for the final two years of the conflict.
